Position Description

Job Title / Type: Product Manager - Lighting & Electronics

Location: Overland Park, KS

Direct Supervisor: Director of Product Development

Position:

The Lighting Product Manager will be an integral part of the product management team and is responsible for the overall direction and development of all forms of portable lighting and electronic products across camping, hardware, and automotive accessories retail categories. The Lighting Product Manager interacts directly with design, engineering, sales, finance, and brand management to grow the product category.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage the new product development cycle for all customers

  • Prepare yearly product lines that deliver value to all customers (internal and external) on a rotating schedule to meet required development cycles

  • Identify new product opportunities and develop new, innovative products

  • Research existing market conditions and conduct feasibility studies to determine market demand for existing and new products

Additional Responsibilities:

  • With the help of the Assistant PM, manage pricing, packaging, line maintenance, and promotions to optimize category profit and growth

  • Collaborate with manufacturing partners daily via email, text, phone, and video calls as needed

  • Present to key customers with the business development team

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape both domestic and globally to include competitive pricing, features, and specifications

  • Work closely with marketing, sales, operations, and legal in the development of marketing plans

Requirements:

To perform the responsibilities of this positions, candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  • Legal authorization to work in the US

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Product Management or Development

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business

  • MBA preferred

  • Experience with electronics, outdoor products, sporting goods

  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • The willingness and ability to travel to perform the essential duties of this position. International travel required as covid travel restrictions ease
