Position Description

Job Title / Type: Industrial Designer / Full Time

Location: Overland Park, KS

Direct Supervisor: Alex Marshall

 

Job Description:

We are looking for a talented hardworking mid-level industrial designer with 2-5+ years of experience to join our team; this is not an entry level role.

 

As a key member of the industrial design team, you will lead projects from concept to production in a variety of product categories including hardgoods and soft goods. The ideal candidate will be passionate, have a keen eye for design, and attention to detail.

 

Our team operates in a fast-paced work environment with the opportunity to work on a variety of projects. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to work at a high level of design thinking and bring those ideas together to tell a great product story. They will have an entrepreneurial mindset, a highly developed technical aptitude, and the ability to take constructive feedback while working collaboratively. This highly creative and technically proficient individual must be able to create diverse concepts while handling communication with our factory partners and internal staff. Experience with hardgoods design is required and soft good design experience is desired.

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Strong work ethic

  • Extremely organized and demonstrate attention to detail

  • Experience in soft good design (cut/sewn, pattern making, construction, etc).

  • Experience with designing durable goods in the outdoor industry.

  • Digital proficiency in KeyShot or similar rendering program.

  • Passion of the outdoor and gear.

  • Strong communication and visualization skills.

  • Knowledgeable in hard-good design with a solid sense of aesthetic and problem solving.

  • Knowledge of product production, processes, and ability to spec for production.

  • Experience in product manufacturing and injection molded part design.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain the strategy behind the design.

  • Effective at exploring a wide variety of compelling designs through sketching and rendering.

  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

  • Knowledge of global trends and color theory.

  • Highly effective at prioritizing tasks and managing deadlines.

  • Highly self-motivated individual with entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Driven to learn about the industry, customers, competitors, and products.

 

 

Requirements

In order to perform the responsibilities of this positions, candidates must fulfill the below requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in the US

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • 3-5+ years of Industrial Design Experience

  • CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred)

  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
